Ok, this is a subject people don't really like to talk about. I don't either because I don't like it when for some reason everything turns into an argument, but that doesn't mean that I don't think about it. In fact, I have strong opinions about religion and since this is my place of expression I'm going to let it all out. So, if you are a really sensitive person when it comes to religion maybe you shouldn't read other people's opinions about it.
I think religion is some human invention that maybe it was intended to be of good at the beginning but ended up being something completely different because everyone had their one way of seeing life and spirituality.
Religion is supposed to be a way in which you are guided to behave in a certain way (God's way, for those religions that believe in God's existence). But we humans are such masters in manipulating things for our own convenience that I just remain skeptical to many things. I do know some leaders have their churches and see it more as a business and others genuinely care about teaching God's word and being some kind of guide.
There are so many religions. I hear people contemptuously talking about other people's practices and when these things take place, I just wonder: How in the world do you know your religion is the right one to follow? At the end, most of them, follow what the Bible says, only difference: they act on it in their own way. Yet again, the Bible has passed through so many versions that you can't even be sure if what you're reading was what was really intended to say. And another thing, the Bible can be interpreted in many ways. Not everyone would understand things like I do and viceversa.
I don't like religion and I don't intend to be labeled in one because I feel that this thing called "religion" instead of bringing us all closer together for the almighty God it only get us farther away from each other. It doesn't unite. It creates division among God's people. It's an eternal and quiet fight of who's wrong and who's right.
I still go to church because we are to congregate, try to rely on each other and all that. I do have other opinions about churches and what happens inside, what people do and what is always expected from you, such as if you don't close your eyes during the entire time something's wrong with you and you need prayer. I think that's dumb. You don't need to put on a show just to prove to people you are the holiest person in the world. You can have a relationship with God and express it in quietly too. But religion does that too, you know, it creates people that take everything too literally and it's on to anyone. They're more attentive to other people's lives than to their own life and their relationship with God. But this is just another topic that I may express in depth another day.
My only "religion" (if I can call it that) is GOD because if I believe in Him and in His existence I will practice love. If I love I will be able to do and act just the way God would have wanted me to. Because God is love, and out of love comes sacrifice, forgiveness, compassion, and everything else that's needed to help others and ourselves in this journey on Earth.
So, if you ask me what religion I follow, I will answer to you plainly: Religion? I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that I believe in God.
